Employer Approval Letter
Need a little help tying together your rational for attending SLA 2012 with the “people upstairs?” SLA has developed a ‘Dear Boss’ letter to assist you with that process. Simply copy and paste the text below or download the electronic file, tailor it to your specific needs, and send it to the boss!
Dear [Employer],
I would like your approval to attend the premier conference for information professionals, the SLA (Special Libraries Association) 2012 Annual Conference & INFO-EXPO, July 15 – 18 at the McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. SLA 2012 is the one conference essential to professionals who must ensure that organizations like ours have the right information, insights and trends to make good decisions and gain competitive advantage. The opportunities to gain knowledge, meet industry experts, and expand professional horizons are unparalleled.
I will be able to choose from hundreds of educational sessions and workshops on the latest trends in gathering, organizing, analyzing and sharing knowledge. Top thought leaders will discuss industry-specific trends, emerging information technology, and proven methods of providing organizations with value-added intelligence that is accurate, reliable and relevant.
Now more than ever, I need in-depth knowledge about products and services in order to assess what is best for us. SLA’s INFO-EXPO is the largest information and knowledge management exposition in North America. It is the most significant gathering of content and technology providers in the world and will give me the opportunity to make hands-on assessments of the latest tools.
Furthermore, it’s a terrific value. Registration fees are much lower than those for most conferences of this caliber, and Chicago offers some of the best food and lodging prices of any major convention location.
If you give me the go-ahead—and I sincerely hope you will—you can expect me to return from SLA 2012 with loads of practical ideas I can put to work right away. Please let me know if you will like additional information, or check SLA’s Web site at www.sla.org for details about my professional organization and its activities.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
